The Off-Road Page

Welcome to our humble off-road page.

The BCP editors have traditionally been rather ignorant of the off-road scene. We defer to the others in this regard, see below.

The resources here are mostly local in nature. For a list of sites that have a more global focus, have a click at this. The Wisconsin and Regional sections of the Midwest Sites page also have a healthy peppering of pages with either a focus on off-road riding or at least a decent amount of off-road content.

[The WORBA logo] The local mountain biking advocacy organization is WORBA; check out their web page for membership information, the current newsletter, action alerts, and so forth. They would love to have you as a member.

Consider joining the National Mountain Bike patrol.

IMBA's National Mountain Bike Patrol (NMBP) program organizes and supports volunteer bike patrols throughout the United States and around the world. Patrollers provide assistance to hikers, equestrians, and especially mountain bikers. They give information, provide directions, help with minor repairs, and provide first aid. IMBA assists in forming new patrol groups, certifies individual patrollers, and helps to provide equipment and medical supplies
Contact Brian Leininger at brian@worba.org if you would like to attend one of the events. If you have any general questions about the NMBP then please contact me at sftudisco@yahoo.com.

BikeBlast
A web site dedicated to mountain biking in Minnesota and thereabouts. They run an email update list.
Blue Mound State Park
WORBA and volunteers from the mountain bike community have opened 3 miles of singletrack at Blue Mound State Park, on top of the 4-5 miles of doubletrack available for you to ride. This is the first bike trail designed and built by bikers for bikers in a Wisconsin State Park, and while there is a "beginner" segment, please note that this trail was designed by people with full-suspension bikes, so it isn't completely "easy".
Levis Trow Mound Trail
Steve Meurett contributed this article about this multi-use trail in Neillsville's Clark County Forest.

Sierra Club Draft MTB Policy
The draft of January 21, 1996; the comment period ended on March 10, 1996. We're looking for a more current copy.
